Blogger predicts AI will fully dominate chip design within two years, like it did math
rakyll · x · 2026-10-18
Patrick Toulme argues that chip design will be entirely AI-driven in under two years, mirroring how frontier models now 100% drive the field of mathematics. Because the problem space is verifiable, AI will saturate all RL environments for chip design and ultimately become superhuman at it. He notes almost no one is anticipating this, likening it to the surprise when frontier AI 'ate' mathematics. rakyll reposted the take.
