Similar-consonant avoidance in Linear A adds more evidence for Linear B readings
PontiEdoardo · x · 2026-10-18
Extending his OCP argument, the author shows the avoidance pattern also holds for phonetically similar consonants: coronal obstruents (t with s, d, z: 0.45–0.63×) and labials (p, m: 0.75×) shun one another, while coronal obstruent + sonorant pairs are over-represented (1.17×) — distributions consistent with natural-language phonotactics and further supporting the Linear A/Linear B decipherment hypothesis.
