Dev team drops PRs entirely: push to main, review after the fact with Shelley
davidcrawshaw · x · 2026-10-18
Replying to simonklee's question, davidcrawshaw describes his code review workflow:
- His team doesn't do PRs — everyone pushes straight to main and owns their commits, reviewing each other's work after the fact.
- Reviews happen mostly in Shelley, customized with an external tool to reduce how much he has to read.
- Even if he preferred GitHub's web UI for diffs, he couldn't go back: he now uses an agent to minimize his diffs.
Together with simonklee's observation that he hadn't been logged into GitHub's website for a week without noticing, the thread sketches an agent-era engineering workflow.
