Claude fixes a corrupt 7z stuck for 30 years, revives a 90s Amiga BBS in 10 minutes
SpinDreams · reddit · 2026-10-18
A Londoner's entire 90s Amiga BBS (Slimelite) sat in a corrupt 7z archive for 30 years, broken by a single shifted byte. After lower-tier Claude models gave up, a more capable model located and fixed the byte in ten minutes — every file intact.
He then got Zeus Pro BBS running on a Raspberry Pi 400 via Amiberry, rewrote the scripts with Claude's help, and even built a new Windows ANSI art editor. The revamped BBS is now live: Telnet port 6023, read-only SSH port 6022 (bbs/bbs), with all old users, files and messages still browsable.
