Ex-OpenAI exec Miles Brundage: superintelligence is the point, not math AI applications

Miles Brundage, former OpenAI policy executive, argued that the lack of visible upsides from superhuman math AI isn't because good uses don't exist — it's that those applications were never the point and show no signs of being pursued.
"Superintelligence is the point, and people don't wanna hear about that," he wrote, adding that it's telling that even proponents of math AI progress haven't articulated any plausible concrete benefit, and that mathematicians are going through what people in other fields will soon face.
