Indie Dev Builds Desktop Agent Platform: Any-Framework Sub-Agents, Fully Local
TopFuture2709 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A developer shared their near-complete desktop AI agent platform on Reddit, built around four goals: security, privacy, visibility, and flexibility.
- Privacy: the agent runtime, memories, conversations, and skills all stay local.
- Flexibility: connects to apps/services like GitHub, Notion, Slack, and Canva; supports skills; the key differentiator is that sub-agents can be built in any language and any framework and plugged in.
- Visibility: uses AG-UI and other methods to display everything the agent does in real time.
- Security: mechanisms to defend against prompt injection and other threats.
A marketplace is planned where developers can publish skills, agents, and connectors.
The motivation came from dissatisfaction with existing tools: OpenClaw and Hermes lacked security, while NVIDIA's OpenClaw variant and Cowork lacked privacy or flexibility — so the author built their own. Only UI polish remains, and they're seeking community feedback on whether there's demand.
