Replit CEO Amjad Masad clarified comments made at TC Disrupt: Replit remains model agnostic, and users can still choose Anthropic and many other supported models.
He explained that OpenAI is now the preferred partner powering Replit Agent based on performance, cost, and the strength of the partnership — optimizing the default experience for the best performance at the best price while preserving user choice. The quoted tweet also noted that for most tasks on Replit, OpenAI models now offer the best cost-per-performance, even versus open source.
