EpochGo open-sources local-first AutoML with offline Ollama LLMs and deterministic pipelines
Grouchy-Excitement28 · reddit · 2026-10-17
EpochGo is an open-source, local-first multi-agent AutoML engine targeting two pain points of cloud AutoML: API cost and tabular data privacy risk (GDPR/DPDP compliance), plus LLM hallucinations in math.
Architecture — it separates reasoning from execution:
- Local LLM orchestrator: Ollama running qwen2.5-coder:7b drafts feature engineering and modeling strategies from schema metadata (column distributions, cardinality, missingness) without touching raw data rows.
- Deterministic execution: all transforms and model fits run as pure Scikit-Learn Pipelines.
- AST validation: generated Python is parsed into an abstract syntax tree before execution to block arbitrary commands and data leakage.
- Dynamic serving: after isolated K-Fold CV, it auto-generates a containerized FastAPI endpoint for the best pipeline (XGBoost, Random Forest, Logistic Regression).
Runs 100% offline on consumer hardware with 16GB RAM, zero cloud cost. Code on GitHub; the author requests feedback on pipeline isolation and offline handling of high-cardinality categoricals.
