Origin Autonomy emerges with $20M to automate interior construction, robots running 3x human speed

Construction robotics startup Origin Autonomy emerged from stealth with $20M co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures, with angels from Anduril, Skild AI, 1X and Tesla. Its OG-1 robot autonomously handles drywall finishing—compound, sanding, priming, corners, pillars, soffits—up to 14 feet high using force control, running at 3x human speed. Unlike prior construction automation focused on heavy exterior work, Origin targets interior trades, which account for over 65% of project timelines and remain almost entirely manual. First robots deployed on New York job sites within 10 months of founding; it works across commercial buildings, multifamily housing, data centers, hotels and warehouses, targeting 150 robots deployed by end of 2027.
