I moved 70+ papers into NotebookLM: four counterintuitive lessons for serious research
pemapi · reddit · 2026-10-17
Frustrated with chatbot hallucinations on dense PDFs, the author rebuilt his research stack around Google NotebookLM across 100+ academic sources. Key lessons: the open web is a liability for rigorous analysis (closed-corpus reasoning nearly eliminates hallucination); triangulation between conflicting sources beats linear reading; source curation needs a three-layer taxonomy (canonical, operational, adversarial) instead of a document dump; and Audio Overviews expose logical gaps faster than re-reading. The full taxonomy is open-sourced in the Izy Notebook Understanding project.
