MIT's Buehler proposes decentralized superintelligence where the scientific record becomes the curriculum
ProfBuehlerMIT · x · 2026-10-17
MIT professor Markus Buehler's team published a paper arguing that scientific discovery is shifting from human-orchestrated tools and centrally planned AI workflows toward decentralized systems that coordinate autonomously through a shared, living scientific record.
The core idea: the scientific record itself becomes the self-generated curriculum of decentralized superintelligence, enabling an open-ended process in which scientific knowledge continuously grows—autonomous agents collaborating around a shared record rather than a central planner.
