AMD is acquiring Fei-Fei Li's spatial intelligence startup World Labs in an $8.2B all-stock deal. Li becomes AMD's Chief Scientist, reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su. World Labs builds AI that understands 3D space and physical object interactions — the world model a robot needs to reason before moving. The strategic play mirrors NVIDIA's full-stack approach: bundling simulators, training platforms and foundation models so robotics defaults to one vendor.
