Claude reverse-engineers 30-year-old crypto parameter seeds, finding no backdoor signs
StefanoGogioso · x · 2026-10-17
Commenting on a recent analysis, banteg explains that Claude was used to reverse-engineer how public parameters were generated 30 years ago. The target was a 48-bit PRNG, not a cryptographic hash — so nothing was "broken"; Claude simply recovered the generation method its original engineers never documented. The finding boosts confidence in the curves: the inputs turned out plausible and benign, strongly suggesting the seeds introduce no weaknesses or backdoors, countering long-held community suspicion.
