ServiceNow Issues Cryptographically Signed 'AI Passport' to Every AI Agent
shashib · x · 2026-10-17
ServiceNow announced on October 15, 2026 that every AI agent now gets a cryptographically signed credential called an AI Passport, and that employees can build their own agents inside EmployeeWorks under admin-defined limits.
How the AI Passport works
- The credential states an agent's identity, permitted actions, accessible systems and accountable owner; it applies to ServiceNow's own agents and third-party agents alike.
- Agents verify the credential at every step of a multi-agent workflow. Credentials are issued by the Super Intelligence Control Tower and grounded in the CMDB, GRC policies and workflow approvals.
- In-scope agents proceed; drifting agents can be redirected, restricted, reconnected with proper context, or killed via a kill switch. Every action is audited.
- Built on open specifications so other governance products, identity providers or enforcement points can issue and verify credentials. NVIDIA OpenShell is named design and launch partner.
Also included
- 400+ connectors for AI discovery, plus shadow AI detection and AI cost management.
- AI Passport, shadow AI detection and AI cost management are expected in Q4 2026; EmployeeWorks tools are in controlled availability.
