Waymo first ride: smooth 35 mph cruising, pricier than Uber, introvert-friendly
lipeng0820 · x · 2026-10-17
A first-hand account of riding a Waymo robotaxi in California: smooth driving at a regular 35 mph, fares higher than Uber (with a $10 first-ride discount), precise pickup-spot定位 replaced — precise pickup location, and an alert chime if passengers grab the wheel, which can't actually be overriden mid-ride. The author hasn't compared it with CyberCab or Baidu's Apollo Go yet, but found it great for introverts since there's no social interaction required.
