Google launches Glimpse, a visual thinking model competitive with Astra on reasoning benchmarks
docmilanfar · x · 2026-10-17
Google's Glimpse is its first "visual thinking" model, achieving frontier-level performance comparable to Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks. Author AndrewDai says years of observation showed models acing single static images while failing on anything moving or changing angle—Glimpse targets exactly that gap. Research VP Milanfar adds: visual intelligence is the future, cameras enable it, and language is a latent abstraction of the physical world, not a replacement.
