DeepSeek silently swaps deepseek-flash weights: fingerprint change hints V4.1-Flash-1017 is live
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-17
User teortaxesTex spotted that deepseek-flash's systemfingerprint changed within an hour from aeb56401ca74e127821c4f9126dcb669 to e72d3c7f663d3e1383b00b3884cb4501, suggesting DeepSeek silently swapped underlying weights — likely a V4.1-Flash-1017 rollout.
A routing probe in the accompanying screenshot shows:
- /models still lists only deepseek-flash and deepseek-v4-pro;
- direct requests to deepseek-v4.1-flash-1017 / deepseek-v4.1-flash return invalidrequesterror;
- but aliases like deepseek-v4-flash and deepseek-chat all route to the new fingerprint.
The author says the model feels smarter and probably terser — a classic stealth-update signal with no rename, just a changed fingerprint.
