ElevenLabs ships Instant Soundtracks: auto-scored video with timestamped SFX
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-17
ElevenLabs launched Instant Soundtracks on October 15 inside ElevenCreative. Upload a video and it writes original music, then watches the footage for moments that call for sound effects and places each one at its timestamp — like a whoosh timed to an end-of-ad logo.
- Effects land on separate layers in the Music Video Editor, so you can move, swap, or delete them without regenerating the score
- You can feed the clip's existing audio as a reference; the model reads genre, tempo, crescendos, and instrumentation
- Tuned for short-form pacing with tighter timing around cuts and mood shifts
- Three new API parameters: addsfx, separatetracks (returns a ZIP with music and effects as separate files), useaudioasreference
- Limits: up to 10 videos per request, 200 MB and 10 minutes combined
The author also suggests a quick test: take a 30-second cut with two scene changes, generate with separate tracks, then judge each layer in isolation.
