Helix World explained: why interactive world models need native spatial audio
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-17
The expanded version of the Helix World release post, linking Noiz AI's official writeup, adds the design rationale:
- Why world models need sound: most interactive world models are silent, yet audio carries information the picture doesn't — surface material, impact force, off-screen events; turning your head should move sound between your ears
- Cascading doesn't work: video-to-audio models never see the camera trajectory or user actions, so their sound ignores ego-motion and adds latency — hence joint audio-video generation
- Same headline numbers as the companion post: 24 fps on one H800, RTF 0.77, WBench 79.9, HelixBench 41.8 vs EchoWM's 12.7; code, weights, paper, and live demo all available
