OpenAI boosts effective Codex usage via context reuse and better cache hits
TheMoonMidas · x · 2026-10-17
OpenAI Codex engineer thsottiaux announced in the "Day 12" update series that improvements to Codex & Work now increase the effective usage users get. The gains come from reusing context across subagents, keeping context cached longer, and improved request routing that increases cache hits — a direct win for heavy users hitting rate limits.
