E2B declares 'sandboxes are dead' — and gets called out over agent traces
ZeroCool86 · reddit · 2026-10-17
E2B's CEO posted "Sandboxes are dead"; the company is now an "agent-driven private cloud" with storage, firewall, networking, browsers and secrets per agent. He claims that after billions of runs E2B can predict what your agent will do before it runs, and asks whether it can recommend your agent "better tools, better services."
The author pushes back: most of that list is what AWS and Google have sold for years — the new part is E2B watching your agent's behavior and steering it toward certain services, raising pay-to-play questions. E2B's terms say nothing about what it can do with data your agent runs on its machines, and its privacy policy (April 2024) only covers website visitors. Perplexity also open-sourced an E2B-compatible sandbox this week — "funny timing." Disclosure: the author builds letme.dev, a competitor that works from public evidence and never sees agent traffic.
