Tesla Roadster uses SpaceX cold-gas thrusters to hit 0-60 mph in 0.55 seconds

Tesla VP of Hardware Engineering Lars Moravy detailed to Hagerty how the new Roadster borrows SpaceX tech: a 200L carbon-wrapped vessel holds nitrogen at 10,000 PSI behind the seat, cold-gas thrusters deliver 80 kN of thrust (comparable to one fighter jet engine), and the system is the same type satellites use in space. Nitrogen refill currently takes 6-7 hours, with Tesla working to cut it to 30 minutes. Optimus robot leg actuators manage wing downforce.
