Writer agent + separate fact-checker agent: is claim extraction worth doubling the $0.13/lesson cost?
Gleb_SV · reddit · 2026-10-17
An indie dev building Noema — agents that turn any topic into a short interactive lesson ($0.13, 2 min per lesson) — asks whether a writer/checker split is worth it. The writer sounds confident even when wrong, and self-review mostly returns "looks good".
Planned pipeline from Reddit advice:
- Writer and checker are separate calls with different prompts; the checker never sees the writer's reasoning.
- The checker extracts every factual claim, one per line.
- Each claim is sourced or cut — no "probably fine".
- Common misconceptions per topic become tests.
- Weekly human spot-check of a sample.
Open questions: how much do steps 2-3 actually catch vs. a single strict-reviewer pass; what source to use for general topics without paying for a search per claim; whether a cheaper checker model just misses the same things. Author estimates checking roughly doubles per-lesson cost.
