research-rag: local CPU-only PDF/ebook search with browser, CLI and MCP access
kishkisan · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer released research-rag, an UltraRAG-inspired tool for searching medium-sized corpora of books and papers entirely locally on CPU. It deliberately does retrieval without answer generation — returning passages with source locations so readers can verify originals and avoid plagiarism issues. Features lexical + semantic search, supports PDF/EPUB/MOBI, works via browser, CLI, or MCP agent, needs no account or hosted model service. Linux only for now.
