Go team adds interactive refactoring to gopls, proposes new LSP standard for multi-step dialogs

The Go team announced interactive refactoring in gopls, backed by a proposed LSP extension co-designed with the Dart team as an open standard.
- The problem: Nearly every LSP code transformation is a zero-parameter function — the server must infer intent from cursor position and syntax tree, defaulting to one-size-fits-all edits or skipping the refactoring entirely (rename is the lone exception, with its dedicated PrepareRename RPC).
- The fix: The language server can now ask follow-up questions via dynamic, multi-step dialogs inside the editor before applying changes.
- Availability: Working support ships in gopls v0.24.0 and the official Go VS Code extension v0.56.0, designed for all languages and editor ecosystems.
