Claude traces ECDSA curve seeds to NSA-era RNG, crypto-cracking fears mocked
AccBalanced · x · 2026-10-17
A viral post notes Claude figured out how the curve parameters for ECDSA were chosen: in the late 1990s the NSA supplied the seeds with no explanation, and it turns out they were just output from a basic random number generator seeded with a timestamp.
The poster sarcastically frames it: Anthropic and OpenAI are "totally not" working on cracking all cryptographic algorithms with their millennium-problem-capable models, "no need to worry."
