Perplexity launches Decisions API: probability answers at $0.01 per million input tokens
AravSrinivas · x · 2026-10-17
Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced the Decisions API, powered by new "decision models" (pplx-decider-v1.2 and pplx-decider-flash-v1.2). Unlike chat models, they read text, JSON, or images and return typed probabilities — yes/no checks, option distributions, or rubric-level scores — for software to act on directly, targeting classification, routing, and grading.
Pricing is per input token only: $0.02/M for the full model, $0.01/M for flash, output free. Srinivas notes $10,000/month buys a trillion tokens at that rate and pledges further optimization of input caching and serving to subsidize prices well below $0.01/M.
