NVIDIA adds line features to cuVSLAM, cutting trajectory error 38.5% in low-texture warehouses

- Pain point: Featureless warehouse aisles, uniform walls, repetitive racking, and specular floors defeat point-feature visual odometry — yet such environments are rich in stable straight edges (rack uprights, door frames, wall junctions).
- Method: A line-feature extension to CUDA-accelerated cuVSLAM — lines parameterized as Plücker coordinates and a minimal 4-DOF orthonormal form; a Cauchy-robust point-to-line residual with analytic Jacobians folds into the per-frame Gauss-Newton pose solve and Schur-complement sliding-window BA; adaptive information weighting shifts burden to lines as points get scarce, and disabling it reduces exactly to the original point pipeline.
- Results: Mean absolute trajectory error drops 38.5% (0.196m→0.1205m) across all 22 TUM RGB-D sequences, with some sequences improving >70%; on a ten-sequence subset it improves 67.9% over the cuVSLAM baseline, beating ORB-SLAM3 and DPVO.
