Microsoft Copilot Studio adds agent accounts, memory and triggers for persistent business-process agents

Microsoft announced three new Copilot Studio capabilities that upgrade agents from personal assistants to organization-owned "digital teammates":
- Agent accounts: agents get their own org-assigned identity, persisting beyond any individual's role or tenure and interacting across many surfaces;
- Agent memory: business-process memory carries context forward and improves across interactions;
- Agent triggers: work kicks off from events and schedules, not just chat messages.
Microsoft's example: a Budget Coordinator agent reviews new cost line items overnight, tags owners on suspicious transactions in the spreadsheet, drops a summary into a Teams chat, and answers three invoice emails.
Microsoft positions Copilot Studio as the platform for "managed agents" that belong to the organization and can be delegated real work. clamanna notes this opens up rethinking how work gets done, not just automating existing steps.
