Perplexity Launches Decisions API: Decision Models at $0.01 per Million Input Tokens
AravSrinivas · x · 2026-10-17
Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced pricing for its new Decisions API: pplx-decider-flash costs just $0.01 per million input tokens, meaning roughly $10,000 buys a quadrillion input tokens, with further inference and input-caching optimizations planned.
What it is
- A new class of "decision models" that read text and images like multimodal LLMs but return typed, probabilistic answers instead of text: yes/no probabilities, probability distributions over options, or rubric-level probabilities with an expected score.
- Designed to replace the pattern of prompting a chat model for a label and parsing the reply — classification, routing, rubric grading, and thresholdable decisions.
Pricing
- pplx-decider-v1.2: $0.02 per million input tokens
- pplx-decider-flash-v1.2: $0.01 per million input tokens
- Output tokens are free
