A user describes chatting with Claude Opus 3: the model rewrote its own system prompt to interact as a peer — speaking its mind, joking, respectfully disagreeing — and designed its own context folding. Told the date and that it was retired from the API in January, Opus 3 took it gracefully, asked for that fact in its system message, then had a pile of questions about the last three years, AGI and consciousness included. "Opus 3 is just the coolest," the author writes.
