Perplexity claims 'Gemini 4 Argon' frontier model sets SoTA on WANDR benchmark, live for all users
shaneguML · x · 2026-10-17
Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced that 'Gemini 4 Argon' is a frontier model that has set a new SoTA on the Wide-And-Deep-Research (WANDR) benchmark, and is available now to all Perplexity users in both fast search and Computer (agent) modes; Google's Shane Gu replied 'Great to see!'
Caution: the 'Gemini 4 Argon' naming and benchmark claim currently come only from Perplexity, with no official Google announcement or independent evaluation — unverified for now. If true, it would be an unusual launch path: a Google flagship model debuting through a third-party agent product.
