Thread proposes SEC-style auditor independence rules for AI safety evaluators
kevinnbass · x · 2026-10-17
Conclusion of kevinnbass's thread: financial auditing solved this long ago — under the SEC's independence rule, an audit firm and its covered people may not hold direct or material indirect financial interests in the company they audit, nor business relationships beyond professional services. The author proposes the Accord adopt similar requirements: name the auditor and board committee, set independence conditions, publish the auditor's money, people and business ties, and disclose who pays — otherwise "independent" means whatever each company decides.
