"The code was never the valuable part": dev on why ditching a year of work is now a choice
therealdanvega · x · 2026-10-17
Dan Vega thread posts 2/6 and 3/6: a few years ago throwing away a year of work would have hurt; now it's a choice — the code was never the valuable part, what he learned building it was, and he keeps that.
Biggest lesson: he put too much into one app. Every new idea got bolted onto the same place, making it progressively harder to change and harder to use.
