Dev built soft-body physics engine with Claude's help, claims it tops BeamNG
grandprixlegends · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer since the 90s shared a soft-body physics engine for his stunt racing sim, built over 6 months with Claude (Fable and Opus 5.5) assisting maths and coding. Written in C++ with hot loops compiled for arm64 Apple Silicon, he claims it surpasses BeamNG in complexity and resolution with internal impacts between car parts. He uses self-built tooling—no VS Code, Claude Code app, or terminal—and is also building a retro Grand Prix sim on a custom 3D engine (GP2Revival on YouTube). Free version coming 'when it's ready.'
