Open Co-Scientist: open-source recreation of Google's AI Co-Scientist with Elo-ranked hypothesis evolution
Haunting-Stretch8069 · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer released Open Co-Scientist, an open-source recreation of Google's AI Co-Scientist, and is seeking feedback and contributors.
The multi-agent system works as follows: you describe a research goal in chat, it grounds the task with literature search, a team of agents generates research hypotheses, runs pairwise debates ranked via an Elo tournament, evolves the top ideas, then verifies every citation and writes a final report.
It's live at open-coscientist.com, and the author hopes it will be a meaningful contribution to the open-source AI for Science community.
