Ex-DeepMind team launches Glimpse, claims to beat GPT-6 Astra at 6% cost

A team of ex-DeepMind researchers launched Glimpse, their first "visual thinking" model:
- Claims: frontier-competitive with GPT-6 Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks, beating it on 4
- Efficiency: trained with only a few hundred GPUs, at roughly 6% of Astra's cost
- Motivation: founder Andrew Dai says he spent years watching models ace single images yet whiff on anything that moves or changes angle — Glimpse targets exactly that
These are the team's own claims pending third-party verification, but if they hold up, it would be a striking efficiency result in visual reasoning.
