Nous Research says its "Thank you TIME" tweet was intern satire; Hermes never made the list
NousResearch · x · 2026-10-17
Nous Research issued a clarification: its earlier "Thank you @TIME" tweet was satire written by a social intern and was never meant to be taken seriously. The company confirmed Hermes was not selected for the TIME list, explaining that it doesn't do paid PR placements — while adding that it thinks Hermes is a wonderful invention TIME may eventually recognize.
The quick walk-back turned the whole episode into a classic AI-circle self-aware PR moment.
