Wharton and GBK's AI adoption survey reveals a striking oversight gap: while 99% of departments have formal checks on AI agents, 76% of VP+ executives trust AI output "with little checking," and 53% observe declining skill proficiency in their departments. The accompanying chart adds more detail: 82% of VP+ have shifted from producing work to managing AI-generated outputs, 47% of their departments cut staff due to AI, and concern about AI peaks at both the top and bottom of the hierarchy — 46-48% worry about skill/cognition decline, and 74% of VP+ hold ethical concerns about AI use.
