Multi-agent systems have a serious context problem and are burning tokens for nothing
alex_verem · x · 2026-10-17
A practitioner argues multi-agent systems waste tokens: every agent receives the full previous context—conversations, tool outputs, code history—much of it irrelevant to its task, so models get paid repeatedly to process information another agent already handled. The proposed fix is simple: clean context at every handoff, structure outputs, and give each node exactly what it needs to finish its task. More agents doesn't mean more efficient orchestration.
