sophiamyang · x · 2026-10-17
Fireworks AI, Microsoft and NVIDIA will host a 'Make your own frontier' buildathon in San Francisco on November 2.
- Prizes: $10,000 (1st), $5,000 (2nd), $3,000 (3rd)
- Challenge: pick a task, build a specialized model or smarter harness/routing on open models, construct an eval from your own, synthetic or public data, and beat a frontier model on quality, latency or cost
- Participants must show tradeoffs (quality vs efficiency, accuracy vs latency, pass rate vs cost), tune at least one dimension beyond a baseline, and demonstrate business value
- Teams must be 2-5 people; solo entries not accepted; registration requires approval with limited capacity
