SSHive adds built-in MCP server so Claude Code can drive your open SSH sessions
NETMESAFE · reddit · 2026-10-16
The developer of SSHive, a native Mac SSH/SFTP client, shipped a built-in MCP server that lets Claude Code and Cursor work directly on sessions you already have open.
- Setup: enable MCP in settings and paste the config, or one CLI command for Claude Code
- Capabilities: 20 tools — list open SSH/SFTP sessions, run commands, read logs, browse/edit/upload files
- Guardrails: everything stays local (localhost server, bearer token in Keychain, no cloud relay); AI only touches sessions you opened yourself, opening new connections is a separate opt-in, individual servers can be excluded (e.g. prod), and the AI can only close sessions it started
- Example: "check disk and memory on production and look at recent nginx errors" → runs df/free, reads error.log over SFTP, and summarizes
