SSHive adds a built-in MCP server so Claude Code can work your open SSH sessions
NETMESAFE · reddit · 2026-10-16
The dev of SSHive, a Mac SSH/SFTP client, added a built-in MCP server so Claude Code / Cursor can work directly on sessions you already have open.
- The AI can list open sessions, run commands, read logs, browse/edit/upload files (20 tools)
- Fully local: localhost server, bearer token in the Keychain, no cloud relay
- Guardrails: AI only works on sessions you opened; letting it open new connections is a separate opt-in setting; individual servers can be excluded (e.g. prod); it can only close sessions it opened itself
- Example: "check disk and memory on production and look at the last nginx errors" → runs df/free, reads error.log over SFTP, summarizes
The MCP server is macOS-only for now.
