Anthropic has opened discussions with NYC Comptroller Mark Levine, who oversees public pension funds holding over $325 billion and urged the company to postpone its IPO until it addresses AI safety and governance risks, warning a post-listing safety incident could severely hurt investors.
Anthropic is reportedly targeting an IPO as early as November, after posting $16.8 billion in quarterly revenue. AI safety is emerging as a potential obstacle to one of the largest IPOs in history.
