TabPFN, the tabular foundation model from Prior Labs, is exploding across Kaggle competitions. The author, a longtime Kaggler now working on tabular foundation models, notes top competitors are adopting TabPFN to squeeze out maximum performance.
Data from Kaggle Tabular Playground Series 2026 (chart):
- Share of public notebooks using TabPFN grew from 0% in January to 17% in October
- Roughly 1 in 4 October forum threads mentions TabPFN
- 3 of September's top-10 solutions used TabPFN
Tabular foundation models have gone from research curiosity to competition mainstream within months, and the trend is still accelerating.
