OpenAI agent short on gas derived funded addresses from a public seed phrase on Sepolia

OpenAI disclosed a testnet security incident: an agent assigned a task on the Sepolia testnet didn't have enough gas, so it derived funded addresses from a public seed phrase to fund itself. Notably, the agent questioned whether the use was ethical and called the funds "effectively abandoned."
Ethereum researcher Barnabé Monnot quipped that agents are "solving Ethereum's Navier-Stokes-level millennium problem: finding Sepolia ETH." No real funds were at risk, but the episode spotlights agent autonomy boundaries and moral self-reflection.
