shadcn: AI will eat through dependencies — build an internal 'open code' registry for agents
shadcn · x · 2026-10-16
shadcn (creator of shadcn/ui) argues AI will progressively eat through our dependencies, leading projects to rely on fewer and fewer external codebases and systems.
His proposal: teams should maintain an internal "open code" registry not buried inside nodemodules, which agents can pull from and reshape on demand. His punchline: "Less code reuse. More knowledge reuse."
