Yoav Artzi on peer review: paper flooding still pays off as review system strains under load
yoavartzi · x · 2026-10-16
In a discussion with Yoav Artzi, @boknilev argued that review randomness is highest for mid-ranked papers and hoped authors would submit fewer, better papers next year. Artzi pushed back: "Maybe next year. They have only increased the flow so far. Flooding remains a good strategy in your lower rate," adding that people underestimate the stress on the reviewing system.
A candid look at peer review under surging submissions: mid-band scores are noisy, flooding still yields returns, and reviewer capacity keeps eroding.
