sand-type: 200,000 WebGL2 sand grains spell a word that heals itself as you draw through it
prasenx · x · 2026-10-16
prasenx released sand-type, an open-source experiment: a huge word made of 200,000 sand grains you can draw through with your cursor. Grains are shoved aside into crumbly berms, quick flicks throw fine grains, and moments after you stop, every grain slides back until the word is perfect again — with procedural sand-brushing sound. Built with Vite + React + TypeScript + Tailwind, the effect itself in plain WebGL2 (github.com/StarKnightt/sand-type).
