Don't misread Musk: human-machine merger is a forecast of what's coming, not a plan
danfaggella · x · 2026-10-16
Dan Faggella pushes back on the "Musk will force you to merge with the Borg" framing of Musk's and Kurzweil's brain-cloud-merger remarks (99%+ of future intelligence being digital; cortical cloud linkage via Neuralink-style interfaces). His reading: Musk is stating something fairly obvious — patterns that persist in nature do so by staying active participants in the living system, and as humans enter a new system teeming with AIs, radical adaptation is the only chance at survival or continued causal purchase over the future. It's a forecast of what the future will foist on us, not a statement of wants — and people hate it because they hold a fairytale vision of the AI future.
